LaserBand LLC, a worldwide leader in patient identification wristbands, was awarded a contract with Premier Purchasing Partners, L.P. to be the sole source provider for proprietary patient identification (ID) bands and related products. Effective February 1, 2010, the agreement will make LaserBand’s newest generation of wristbands available to Premier’s nationwide alliance of 2,220 hospitals and 63,000 other healthcare sites at specially negotiated pricing.

LaserBand is unique in its industry, holding twice as many patient identification wristband patents as all competitors combined. No other manufacturer offers a complete direct-print laser and thermal product solution that works with all existing patient ID technologies and includes water-and-alcohol-resistant, self-laminating wristbands for maximum protection of critical patient data.

In announcing the agreement, LaserBand Vice President of Business Development Rick Feiner said, “We view this continuing business relationship as a very flattering and well-deserved endorsement of the superiority of our proprietary patient ID wristbands. LaserBand’s commitment to maintaining a leadership position in research and development ensures Premier and their member facilities receive unparalleled patient safety at competitive costs. We are extremely encouraged that this new agreement with one of the nation’s largest group purchasing organizations will extend the benefits of LaserBand’s leading-edge wristbands to potentially millions more patients in healthcare facilities across the country. The new agreement is expected to ease implementation and improve workflow of Premier members’ patient identification processes while improving their patients’ safety and comfort.
