University of Minnesota offers Hearing Conservation and one-day refresher courses

The University of Minnesota's Midwest Center for Occupational Health and Safety is offering a Hearing Conservation course on April 21-23, 2010, designed for hearing conservation technicians and occupational health professionals seeking certification as an Occupational Hearing Conservationist (OHC). The Center is also offering a one-day refresher course on April 27, for OHC's seeking recertification. Both courses will be held at the U of M Minneapolis campus and will be offered again in October.

These courses are approved by the Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOHC) and are designed to train nursing, allied medical, and industrial personnel to perform pure-tone air-conduction hearing tests and participate in other components of workplace hearing conservation programs for noise-exposed workers.

Ted Madison, M.A., CCC-A, is the course director. He is an audiologist and a CAOHC-certified Course Director who works as a Technical Service Specialist for the 3M Occupational Health and Environmental Safety Division. He is also past-president of the National Hearing Conservation Association (NHCA) and the Chair of the CAOHC Publications Committee.
