“We look forward to revitalizing our association with Philips, focusing on both companies' strengths.”

Sectra (STO:SECTB) and Philips have completed an agreement whereby Philips will sell Sectra PACS in Japan under a joint branding policy. The agreement revitalizes a partnership that ended in 2005, by which Sectra and Philips combined were among the market leaders for PACS.

The Japanese medical devices market is the second largest in the world after the USA, which means that this development is highly significant for both companies. There is still an installed base of around 30 Sectra/Philips PACS systems in Japan as a platform and reference for future expansion in the quality-focused and demanding Japanese market.

"This is a very important agreement for Sectra since it provides us with a strong and competent partner in a key market. Furthermore, signing this agreement in Japan proves the values of the high quality and stability of our PACS systems," says Dr. Torbjörn Kronander, President of Sectra's medical operations. "We look forward to revitalizing our association with Philips, focusing on both companies' strengths."

"Under this agreement we will have the ability to integrate Sectra PACS with Philips modalities in our market, giving us the opportunity to improve our performance and expand the offering to our customers in the Japanese market," says Danny Risberg, Chief Operating Officer for Philips Electronics Japan.
