Health reform questions likely to arise in Supreme Court nominee's confirmation hearings

GOP lawmakers may grill President Barack Obama's latest Supreme Court nominee, Elana Kagan, over her views on the recent health overhaul law, Modern Healthcare reports. "Sen. John Barrasso (R-Wyo.), a physician, told Fox News that he would press Kagan on the constitutionality of the reform law, primarily when it comes to the individual mandate requiring every U.S. citizen to purchase some level of health insurance. … Aides to Senate Republicans on the Judiciary Committee, which ultimately will vote on whether to move forward on the Kagan nomination, said those lawmakers, too, would gauge where Kagan stands on the issue" (DoBias, 5/10).
