Southeast Emergency Consultants, an emergency medicine physician group that contracts with hospitals throughout the Southeast, changed its name to Titan Emergency Group announced Ray Gyarmathy, M.D., F.A.A.E.M., the company's president. The group selected the name to kick off a period of aggressive growth to expand the number of hospitals where it provides emergency department staffing and support services. The new name better reflects the company's personality and eliminates any potential confusion related to its geographic service area.
“These doctors have a competitive spirit, and they're tenacious in their pursuit of improved quality and productivity. Their formula works. They have improved our emergency department's performance in nearly every measurable category. We look forward to a long and productive relationship with Titan Emergency Group.”
"The recently-passed healthcare legislation will dramatically increase the number of patients who have insurance, which means that the volume of non-reimbursed care in the emergency department should diminish," said Fred Jenkins, M.D., one of the company's medical directors. "That change means hospitals can look to their emergency departments in more strategic ways - as an even larger gateway to reimbursable admissions and ancillary services. In other words, E.D. volumes stand to become the most important predictor of a hospital's overall success. And we believe our unique approach to emergency medicine will be attractive to hospitals in this new era."
Titan's physicians use novel approaches to handle triage, patient flow, and integration with other hospital services. The company's model has improved efficiency, patient satisfaction, and quality of care at the hospitals its serves. Measurable improvements in these key areas often translate into increased volumes for the emergency department and increased hospital admissions - both of which lead to revenue growth.
"I can see why they chose the name Titan," said Scott Montgomery, senior vice president of operations at Memorial Hospital Jacksonville. "These doctors have a competitive spirit, and they're tenacious in their pursuit of improved quality and productivity. Their formula works. They have improved our emergency department's performance in nearly every measurable category. We look forward to a long and productive relationship with Titan Emergency Group."
Titan Emergency Group will continue to function as a group practice and retain all its licenses and corporate structure.
