The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act signed into law by President Obama this past March greatly expands the audit operations for Medicare and Medicaid programs. At the hub of these efforts are the Recovery Audit Contractors (RACs), which are fully operational for the Medicare program, and will expand to include services reimbursed by state Medicaid programs in April of 2011.
To prepare physicians for this new audit landscape, Fi-Med Management, Inc. announced today The 2011 Physicians RAC Summit, taking place in Orlando, Florida on January 9-12, 2011 at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. This conference will assist physician practices as well as health care consultants to successfully navigate the choppy waters created by RAC audits.
"We created the Physicians RAC Summit to help hospitals and their physicians navigate the tangle of regulatory issues brought about by The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services' third party auditing entities — the RACs, MICs, MACs and ZPICs," states Christine Krause, Co-Founder of Fi-Med Management, Inc. "If you're a physician — in private practice, affiliated with a hospital or a member of a group — this is the breakout event that will give you the tools, strategies and techniques to avoid being boxed in by a lack of understanding of new regulations such as The False Claims Act, Anti-Kickback Statutes and Voluntary Disclosures."
