‘Queen of Soul’ fighting pancreatic cancer say reports

Aretha Franklin, the 68 year old ‘Queen of Soul’, is fighting pancreatic cancer, according to a family friend. It is a week since she has undergone a surgery for incurable pancreatic cancer.

Franklin in a statement said, “God is still in control. I had superb doctors and nurses whom were blessed by all the prayers of the city and the country.” Rev. Jesse Jackson, who has visited recently with Franklin has said that she was “recovering very well.” Franklin had announced last month that she was cancelling all concert dates and personal appearances through May, under her doctors’ orders. All this while the nature of her illness was not revealed.

Franklin has won numerous Grammys, the National Medal of Arts and the Presidential Medal of Freedom and has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
