Bruker advances whole-organism 3D imaging with enhanced tissue-clearing workflows

Bruker Corporation today announced a strategic collaboration with Translucence Biosystems, Inc., a leading provider of tissue‑clearing solutions, to expand its workflow for cleared tissue imaging. Through the combined use of Translucence’s Universal Tissue Clearing Kit alongside Bruker’s light‑sheet microscopy and data processing platforms, researchers can move from sample preparation to high-resolution, analysis-ready 3D datasets with greater efficiency and ease.

The Universal Tissue Clearing Kit is designed to support user-defined antibodies and requires no specialized equipment. Its accessibility and flexibility enable researchers to implement standardized clearing workflows in typical laboratory environments while reducing variability.

Bruker’s MuVi SPIM and LCS SPIM light-sheet microscopes are optimized for 3D imaging of cleared samples, from intricate tissue structures to entire organisms. These systems are supported by a software suite that offers high-speed registration and fusion of large, multi-view datasets. Bruker also provides scalable data management, visualization, and processing with its Acquifer HIVE platform.

Together, these complementary technologies support a streamlined workflow for cleared tissue imaging, enabling researchers to align sample preparation, imaging, and data processing steps more effectively. This approach facilitates consistent generation of high-quality 3D datasets while improving usability, reproducibility, and scalability across a range of biological research applications.
