If you consider radiation amounts per minute and calculate the dose/minute of a scan versus the dose/minute from a typical geographic area, based on 3mSv/year then we find the percentage increase during a scan when compared to the daily amount, say per minute, is staggering.  Is this a reasonable scientific basis for a comparison? for example we say 3mSv/year on average and then 6mSv in about 15 minutes for a pelvic scan.
