Kingston General Hospital adopts Sentinelle Medical's new breast imaging system through HTAIP

Dr. Morris (Mickey) Milner, President and CEO of The Health Technology Exchange (HTX), announced the successful adoption of Sentinelle Medical's new breast imaging system by Kingston General Hospital (KGH), through the HTX's Health Technology Assessment and Implementation Program (HTAIP), a program funded by the Ontario Ministry of Research and Innovation.

Health Canada issues marketing approval for NeuroVasx's cPAX Aneurysm Treatment System

NeuroVasx, Inc., a medical device company that develops technologies for the treatment of hemorrhagic and ischemic stroke, announced today that it has received approval to market its cPAX Aneurysm Treatment System in Canada from Health Canada's Therapeutic Products Directorate. In addition to Canadian regulatory approval, the cPAX System also received CE Mark in March 2009.

People with psoriasis - an often distressing dermatological condition that causes lesions and red scaly patches on the skin - are less likely to react to looks of disgust by others than people without the condition, new research has found.

Study: Patients may face radioactive risk from imaging tests

"At least four million Americans under age 65 are exposed to high doses of radiation each year from medical imaging tests, according to a new study in The New England Journal of Medicine," The New York Times reports. And about ten percent of those patients "receive very high doses, more than the maximum annual exposure allowed for nuclear power plant employees or anyone else who works with radioactive material." The study was based on a survey of nearly one million patients insured by UnitedHealthcare.

FDA approves Supersonic Imagine's Aixplorer ultrasound system

Research indicates that acute hepatocellular injury in cholelithiasis and cholecystitis without choledocholithiasis is mild and transient

Acute hepatocellular injury is a commonly encountered phenomenon in patients with cholelithiasis and concomitant common bile duct (CBD) stones. However, in clinical practice, it seemed to occur also in cholelithiasis patients without evidence of CBD stones. Its incidence and final outcome necessitated clarification.
