An inexpensive device for extruding tiny liposomes is the Genizer HandExtruder. Included are two gas-tight syringes, an extrusion body, and a stabilizing block.

It enables liposome preparation by hands-on operation. The user can gradually press the plunger of the filled syringe to force the sample through the filter membrane within the extruder body, then gently push the plunger to return the sample to the original syringe. To obtain a sample with homogeneous liposome size, repeat these two stages five to 10 times.

The Genizer HandExtruder's extrusion body is composed of 316L stainless steel for use in pharmaceutical applications. Compared to plastic counterparts from other companies, the 316L stainless steel extends the service life and protects the extrusion body from harm.
