NCC, BD to implement cervical cancer early detection program for underserved women in Peru

The National Cancer Coalition and BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company), a leading global medical technology company, are pleased to announce the implementation of a cervical cancer early detection program to benefit 75,000 underserved women in Peru. With a goal to reduce the high cervical cancer mortality levels in the mountainous region surrounding Cusco, this extensive three-year program is set to conduct liquid-based cytology exams utilizing the BD SurePath™ Liquid-based Pap Test System.

Study: Air at petrol stations, immediate surroundings are affected by emissions from vehicle fuels

In Spain it is relatively common to come across petrol stations surrounded by houses, particularly in urban areas. Researchers from the University of Murcia have studied the effects of contamination at petrol stations that is potentially harmful to health, which can be noted in buildings less than 100 metres from the service stations.

U-M Medical School earns $368.7 million in NIH research funding during federal fiscal year 2010

University of Michigan Medical School physicians and scientists earned more than $368.7 million in National Institutes of Health research funding in federal fiscal year 2010, according to NIH data. In all, the School's faculty brought in $481.8 million in research funding from all sources in U-M fiscal year 2010.
