iCAD granted patent covering SecondLook Digital CAD solution incorporating lesion metrics

iCAD, Inc., an industry-leading provider of advanced image analysis and workflow solutions for the early identification of cancer, announces that the United States Patent and Trademark Office recently granted the company Patent Number 7,660,448. This patent covers future iterations of iCAD’s SecondLook® Digital Computer-Aided Detection (CAD) solution with potential application to the company’s other image analysis solutions.

MabCure closes private placement, converts bridge loan into equity securities

MabCure, Inc., a biotechnology company using its proprietary technology to create highly specific monoclonal antibodies (MAbs) for the early detection of cancer, today announced that it has recently completed a private placement in the aggregate amount of $1 million. The amount is comprised of a $500,000 cash investment and the conversion of a $500,000 bridge loan that was made in September 2009, into equity securities.

Enzon Pharmaceuticals’ outstanding principal balance of 4% convertible notes is now $134.5M

Enzon Pharmaceuticals, Inc. today announced the results from the recent tender and increased conversion periods of the 4 percent convertible notes due in 2013. As a result of the sale of the specialty pharmaceutical business on January 29, 2010, the Company was required to offer to repurchase for cash any and all of its convertible notes at face value. This offer expired on March 5, 2010 and no notes were tendered.

Positive data from Argos Therapeutics' AGS-003 Phase 2 trial for mRCC

Argos Therapeutics today announced the presentation of positive data from a Phase 2 trial that evaluated the safety, clinical response and immune response of AGS-003 treatment in newly diagnosed patients with metastatic renal cell carcinoma (mRCC). The data were discussed March 7 in a poster presentation at the ASCO Genitourinary Cancers Symposium.

Acceptance of initial regulatory filings for BMS-PCSK9Rx triggers $6M milestone payment to Isis Pharmaceuticals

Isis Pharmaceuticals, Inc. announced today that it has earned a $6 million milestone payment from Bristol-Myers Squibb Company related to the acceptance of initial regulatory filings to begin Phase 1 clinical studies for BMS-PCSK9Rx. BMS-PCSK9Rx is an antisense drug that arose out of the ongoing collaboration between Bristol-Myers Squibb and Isis to identify antisense drugs targeting PCSK9 to lower low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol.

DiagnoCure: Global studies confirm clinical utility of PROGENSA PCA3 test

DiagnoCure, Inc., a life sciences company commercializing high-value cancer diagnostic tests and delivering laboratory services, announced that the clinical utility of the PROGENSA(R) PCA3 test, developed and commercialized by its partner Gen-Probe, was confirmed in two large worldwide studies, conducted in a subset of patients in GlaxoSmithKline's REDUCE trial of dutasteride. The results demonstrate that PCA3 can help determine whether men suspected of having prostate cancer should undergo a repeat biopsy and can predict the risk of having an aggressive cancer.

D. Anderson Cancer.
