Study reveals increase in number of laparoscopic bariatric operations between 2003-2008

According to a study published in the August issue of the Journal of the American College of Surgeons, there was an increase in the number of laparoscopic bariatric procedures, an increase in the number of bariatric surgeons and a decrease of inhospital mortality rates between 2003 and 2008.

Chemed board declares increased quarterly cash dividend

Chemed Corporation announced today that the Board of Directors has declared a quarterly cash dividend of 16-cents per share on the Company's capital stock, payable on September 6, 2011, to shareholders of record as of August 16, 2011. Most leading health plans see enrollment gains in first quarter 2011

Most of the nation's leading health plans saw enrollment gains in the first quarter of 2011 and all saw improved profit margins both year-over-year and for the quarter, a promising start for 2011. Between December 2010 and March 2011 top plans saw an aggregate increase of more than 2.0 million members. While aggregated fully-insured business continued to experience losses, the administrative services only (ASO) segment gained over 2.2 million members during the primary 2011 open enrollment season.
