FDA approves ONGLYZA to treat type 2 diabetes patients with renal impairment

Bristol-Myers Squibb Company and AstraZeneca today announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved the inclusion of data from two clinical studies in an update to the ONGLYZA U.S. Prescribing Information for adult type 2 diabetes patients.

Japan MHLW approves Sosei's NorLevo emergency contraceptive pill

Sosei Group Corporation, the biopharmaceutical company, today announced that Sosei Co., Ltd., its wholly owned Japanese subsidiary, was granted approval for its emergency contraceptive pill, NorLevo(R) TABLETS 0.75mg, by the Japan Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW). NorLevo(R) has thus become the fist emergency contraceptive pill available in Japan.

The governor of Massachusetts proposed changes on Thursday to the state's comprehensive healthcare program, one often seen as a prototype for national reforms, to attempt to bring rising costs under control. The plan would give the U.S. state more authority to scrutinize fees paid to hospitals and doctors, reform the current standard by which healthcare providers are compensated and enact medical malpractice reform.
