Once-a-day dosing clinical study of udenafil for erectile dysfunction completed

Dong-A Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. and Dong-A PharmTech, Co. Ltd. announced today that it has completed a 240 patient once-a-day dosing clinical study of udenafil, its new long acting phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE-5) inhibitor for erectile dysfunction (ED).

International prostate cancer expert Dr. Oliver Sartor of Tulane Cancer Center is the first oncologist in the United States to offer patients an experimental new treatment for late-stage prostate cancer through a multi-center clinical trial that is currently recruiting patients at 100 sites across 20 countries worldwide.

Presentations to highlight durability and efficacy of urethral bulking agents

Hospitals should expand quality control guidelines to improve surgical complications in older patients

The elderly are more vulnerable to problems after a major surgical procedure than younger patients, but a team of investigators using data from the American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (ACS NSQIP) suggest that one way to improve surgical results in this age group is to have hospitals expand their quality control guidelines to include more types of surgery-related complications.

Source of arsenic contamination of drinking water in Bangladesh found by MIT researchers

Researchers in MIT's Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering believe they have pinpointed a pathway by which arsenic may be contaminating the drinking water in Bangladesh, a phenomenon that has puzzled scientists, world health agencies and the Bangladeshi government for nearly 30 years. The research suggests that human alteration to the landscape, the construction of villages with ponds, and the adoption of irrigated agriculture are responsible for the current pattern of arsenic concentration underground.

Warner Chilcott plc today announced a 20,000,000 share secondary offering of its ordinary shares by certain selling shareholders. The offering is being conducted as a public offering pursuant to an effective shelf registration statement under the Securities Act of 1933. The Company will not receive any proceeds from the sale of the shares but will pay the expenses of the offering.

Study reveals that male factor infertility is associated with a number of medical comorbidities

The December issue of European Urology, the official journal of the European Association of Urology, features an article entitled 'Are Infertile Men Less Healthy than Fertile Men? Results of a Prospective Case-Control Survey' by Dr. Andrea Salonia et al. The conclusion is that male factor infertility is associated with a number of medical comorbidities, as objectively scored with the hospital-based Charlson Comorbidity Index.
