America's Health Insurance Plans (AHIP) and MedAssurant, Inc., announced today that MedAssurant, through its healthcare data analytics services, will support AHIP's research capabilities in the areas of quality and effectiveness of treatments.

This working relationship will help AHIP in its efforts to advance evidence based medicine and translate data into meaningful conclusions that support the goals of improved health care and greater affordability. Both organizations are committed to comparative effectiveness and outcomes research as cornerstones to achieving those goals, and will work together to develop improved information about what works and what works best for patients.

"AHIP is committed to being a leader in helping to achieve the nation's goals of better health care and better use of our health care resources," said Charles Stellar, Executive Vice President, AHIP. "To do this will require a superior understanding of what works, and what works best, for individual patients based on data and evidence," he said. "AHIP is pleased to be able to work with MedAssurant in our quest for solutions."

"Across the United States there are examples of effective avenues to improvement in healthcare quality, outcomes, and greater efficiency," said Keith R. Dunleavy, MD, MedAssurant's President and CEO. "An ability to garner insight from these solutions for broader applications is critical to the large scale improvement sought in today's environment. Data drives these analyses and the advanced solutions that can be informed by their findings. MedAssurant is very pleased to help inform AHIP's focus on evidence-based healthcare initiatives."
