Gamma-Dynacare Medical Laboratories has been named, for the second consecutive year, as one of Canada's Top 100 Employers and one of the Greater Toronto Area's Top Employers by Mediacorp Canada, Inc.

"We are very proud to be recognized as a top employer, especially during a year of such challenging economic conditions," said Naseem Somani, Chief Executive Officer, Gamma-Dynacare Medical Laboratories. "Our employees have risen to these challenges, working together to give life to our mission of 'Caring for People'. We're proud to be a Top 100 Employer, but even more proud of our employees, who collectively make Gamma-Dynacare successful and a great place to work."

Mediacorp's Top 100 Employers competition recognizes employers who are industry leaders at creating exceptional workplaces and attracting and retaining employees. This year, Mediacorp invited 16,000 of Canada's fastest-growing employers to apply, plus an additional 8,000 companies and organizations in industries that it wanted to examine more closely. Gamma-Dynacare was selected from a list of more than 2,600 employers who submitted a detailed application describing their operations, HR practices and community involvement.

Gamma-Dynacare's submission highlighted the employee programs, learning and development opportunities, health and safety practices and community projects that help to create a positive work environment and demonstrate the company's commitment to its employees. These programs include recognition events, continuing education opportunities and special programs for employees' children.

Gamma-Dynacare was recognized by the judges for its family-friendly benefit programs, which include comprehensive retirement savings and health benefit plans, top-up benefits for parental leave that also extend to new fathers and adoptive parents, and starting employees at three weeks paid vacation plus two personal paid days off. The company's tuition subsidies for job-related courses also were recognized as a key benefit.

As a Top 100 winner, Gamma-Dynacare was listed in the October 19, 2009 issue of Maclean's magazine and in The Globe & Mail on October 9, 2009. In addition, as one of the GTA's Top 90 Employers, Gamma-Dynacare was recognized in a special editorial supplement to The Toronto Star on October 17, 2009.
