AMICAS, Inc. (Nasdaq: AMCS), a leader in image and information management solutions, today announced a new contract with Washington Radiology Associates (Fairfax, VA). This agreement will extend Washington Radiology Associates' long-standing partnership with AMICAS to include AMICAS PACS(TM).

Founded in 1948, Washington Radiology Associates is a privately-owned radiology group with 26 radiologists, who perform approximately 200,000 interpretations per year. A completely digital practice, Washington Radiology Associates performs the imaging and interpretations at their six imaging centers in the greater Washington, DC, area.

An AMICAS customer for 22 years, Washington Radiology Associates will add AMICAS PACS to its current imaging IT solution already in implementation, which includes AMICAS RIS(TM), AMICAS Reach(TM), AMICAS Dashboards(TM), and AMICAS Financials(TM), to streamline their operations and enable them to pursue new business initiatives.

"Choosing to go 'end-to-end' with AMICAS is key for our practice. Given an ever-increasing competitive environment and the potential for continued reimbursement pressure, we need to drive efficiencies at our practice," said Patrick Waring, administrator at Washington Radiology Associates. "I have known the leadership team at AMICAS for many years now - and they have the vision, the technology, and the 'know how' to help make our practice successful."

The AMICAS ONE Suite(TM) - a modular, yet integrated, software suite that includes PACS, RIS, radiology billing, and business intelligence capabilities - is completely focused on the needs of imaging practices. To help improve operating efficiencies and improve top-line results, the AMICAS ONE Suite provides advanced workflow automation throughout the practice, which ultimately results in an excellent return on investment.

"We are excited to take our partnership with Washington Radiology Associates to the next level," said Stephen Kahane MD, president, chief executive officer, and chairman of AMICAS. "Choosing to make this investment in AMICAS' technology during this uncertain time will give Washington Radiology Associates a strategic advantage over the coming months and years."
