The George Washington University announces Telemedicine Fellowship program

The Department of Emergency Medicine at The George Washington University announced today that it will be accepting applications for its first Telemedicine Fellowship program set to begin in the summer of 2010. The program is aimed to promote the development and delivery of Telemedicine initiatives for both domestic and international organizations.

"We hope to educate and train future leaders who can bring together innovative technologies, effective business models and novel applications to enhance the delivery of medical care via Telemedicine," said Neal Sikka, M.D., Director of the Section of Innovative Practice at The George Washington University.

The fellowship program will provide opportunities for collaboration among Emergency Medicine faculty and faculty in other medical and surgical disciplines as well as engineering and business. Fellows will play an integral role in the rapidly growing and changing field of telemedicine, telehealth, remote health monitoring and mobile health by developing clinical competence in the delivery of Telemedicine, leadership in establishing new programs and basic technical knowledge of telehealth delivery. Fellows will also have the opportunity to pursue an MS, MPH, or MBA degree.
