Nominations are now being accepted for the 2010 National Courage Award. Since 1980, Minnesota-based Courage Center has presented the National Courage Award, which recognizes an individual's contributions to the health, welfare and rehabilitation of people with disabilities.
Some previous National Courage Award winners include: Max Cleland, Justin Dart Jr., Sen. Bob Dole, Rep. Jim Ramstad, Michael Graves, Stephen Hawking, John Hockenberry, Dr. I. King Jordan, Trisha Meili, Itzhak Perlman, Christopher Reeve, Janet Reno, Edward V. Roberts, and Emmanuel Ofosu Yeboah. The 2009 winner was Jordan Thomas, founder of the Jordan Thomas Foundation, one of 10 finalists for this year's CNN Hero Award.
