Dr. David Kibbe, recognized healthcare futurist and Senior Advisor, American Academy of Family Physicians, headlined Medicity’s Customer Summit last week, which attracted the nation’s most progressive healthcare organizations engaged in health information exchange (HIE) across the largest ecosystem of connected providers nationwide.

Healthcare executives, physicians and administrators actively exchanging information across acute care hospitals, ambulatory clinics, physician practices and allied health providers joined together at the summit to share best practices for enhancing patient outcomes and reducing healthcare costs and to chart the course for the future of healthcare delivery as the meaningful use of EHRs accelerates.

“We were pleased to host the largest gathering of active public and private HIEs across the country”

The Summit featured presentations by HIE leaders who rounded out the gamut of perspectives in healthcare delivery, including:

  • David Kibbe, M.D., MBA, Senior Advisor of American Academy of Family Physicians, Chair of ASTM International E31Technical Committee on Healthcare Informatics, and innovator in health information technology
  • Mark Probst, CIO, Intermountain Healthcare and member of the Health IT Policy Committee
  • James McIlwain, MD, President and CEO, Information & Quality Healthcare and Co-chairman of the Mississippi Health Information Infrastructure and Task Force Grant Administrator for the Mississippi Coastal Health Information Exchange
  • William Lewkowski, Executive VP and CIO, Metro Health
  • Gina Perez, Executive Director, Delaware Health Information Network

“We were pleased to host the largest gathering of active public and private HIEs across the country,” said James K. Lassetter, M.D., Chairman and CEO of Medicity. “Despite a difficult economy and reduced travel budgets, there were a record number of attendees, with approximately 50% of our 700 hospital and HIE customers represented. This level of attendance underscores the commitment of these organizations to improving efficiencies, care collaboration and coordination – irrespective of the meaningful use wave, since most of these customers were ahead of the ARRA curve.”

Medicity pioneered the industry’s most powerful HIE technology solutions, from the patented agent-grid technology in its Novo Grid to its revolutionary iNexx platform. iNexx, the company’s latest innovation, ushers in a new technology paradigm for healthcare providers as an open platform for modular app development and deployment, as explained by Dr. Kibbe in his presentation titled “EHRs for a Small Planet” at the summit.

Medicity will demonstrate the Novo Grid and its next-generation iNexx technology at HIMSS10, March 1-4, 2010 in Atlanta, GA.
