Primordial, a leading vendor of communications, workflow, quality management and analytics applications for the medical imaging market, and Charlotte Radiology, one of the largest radiology groups in the United States, announced today a partnership to deploy and further develop Primordial’s applications for use by Charlotte Radiology physicians across numerous hospitals and imaging centers.

“Charlotte Radiology has identified quality management – and peer review specifically – as a core need moving forward”

As part of the agreement, Primordial will install its platform and multiple applications, including a powerful communications system and a full-featured peer review system across a highly distributed and complex reading environment. It will do so by integrating and extending multiple PACS systems to create a seamless, vendor-agnostic system that layers on top of the underlying imaging workflow. And as it typically does, Primordial will customize the software to the customer’s specific workflow and needs.

“Charlotte Radiology has identified quality management – and peer review specifically – as a core need moving forward," said Arl Van Moore Jr., M.D., FACR, FSIR, FAHA, Charlotte Radiology's President. “Beyond ACR accreditation, we need a way to meaningfully measure, track, understand, and continually improve the quality of our services, taking into consideration the wide variety of inputs relating to reading mix, work distribution, and statistical relevance. We chose Primordial to help bring it all together, because of their experience in working with complex environments such as ours, and their ability to provide a vendor-neutral solution that will integrate with the systems of our choice.”

Robert Terheggen, a partner at Primordial, commented: “Charlotte Radiology’s excellent reputation in the industry, and its goal of continual quality improvement, makes us honored to partner with them. We highly look forward to working together to put together a meaningful quality system that helps raise an already-high standard of care.”

Primordial will also be installing additional applications, including its “Google-like” report search application. Primordial Search will give all of Charlotte Radiology’s radiologists and administrators sub-second, relevant, browser-based access to its huge report repository (several million reports).
