Health Net Federal Services, LLC, part of the Government Contracts segment of Health Net, Inc. (NYSE:HNT), and Managed Health Network, Inc., Health Net’s behavioral health subsidiary (MHN), are honored to serve as host sponsors of the 24th National Disabled Veterans Winter Sports Clinic in Snowmass Village, Colo., March 28 – April 2, 2010. Health Net Federal Services and MHN’s support will help nearly 150 first-time veterans attend the clinic. Health Net Federal Services is pleased to support the Winter Sports Clinic for the fifth time as a part of its ongoing commitment to serving veterans and programs that improve their quality of life.

“Through MHN and Health Net Federal Services, Health Net is proud to continue our tradition of supporting veterans with disabilities by helping them to attend this annual event that inspires courage and confidence.”

“We applaud the courage and commitment of the veterans, their family members and caregivers as they demonstrate that having a visual or physical disability is not an obstacle to an active, rewarding life,” said Steve Tough, president, Health Net Federal Services. “Through MHN and Health Net Federal Services, Health Net is proud to continue our tradition of supporting veterans with disabilities by helping them to attend this annual event that inspires courage and confidence.”

Because Health Net recognizes the benefits of a holistic approach to wellness, its behavioral health subsidiary, MHN, will provide on-site health coaches to offer support and education for participating veterans and their families. The coaches will deliver an educational presentation and provide support and coaching to attendees, their family members and caregivers to help them respond to life’s challenges through positive coping techniques and stress management.

The clinic is open to U.S. military veterans with traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries or disease, orthopedic amputations, visual impairments, certain neurological conditions, and other disabilities, who receive care at a Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) medical facility or military treatment facility.

More than 350 athletes are expected to participate in the clinic this year. All participants develop winter sports skills and take part in a variety of workshops and educational sessions that will positively impact their rehabilitative journey and readjustment in their communities. For veterans recently injured during Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom, the clinic provides an opportunity to test their new-found abilities and develop new lifestyle skills.
