Sherwin-Williams Chemical Coatings forms partnership with Microban International

Sherwin-Williams Chemical Coatings Division is raising the bar for quality coatings by partnering with Microban International, the global leader in built-in antimicrobial protection, to offer select liquid and powder product finishes with Microban(R) antimicrobial protection. Microban(R) protection works continuously to inhibit the growth of bacteria that can cause stain, odor, discoloration and deterioration of the painted surface.

Sherwin-Williams Chemical Coatings now offers seven new Microban-infused coatings products, including select Polane(R), Powdura(R), Kem Aqua(R) and SHER-WOOD(R) finishes, with more products under development.

On unprotected coated surfaces, bacteria can double in number every 20 minutes. Microban(R) antimicrobial technology works to inhibit the ability of microbes to reproduce, making it ideal for wood, plastic and metal products such as medical diagnostic equipment, keyboards and keypads, gym lockers and workout equipment, laboratory and institutional furniture, door hardware and kitchen cabinets, or wherever cleanliness is a priority. This added level of protection extends the longevity, integrity and appearance of coated surfaces.

Unlike surface disinfectants, which temporarily eliminate microbes, Microban(R) technology works 24/7. It never has to be reapplied and won't wash off or wear away, so it continues to provide protection for the life of the coating.
