HaloSource, a leading clean water company, has signed an agreement with Bajaj Electricals Ltd, the Indian home appliance products company, for the use of HaloSource's revolutionary HaloPure® disinfection cartridges in Bajaj water purification products.

Bajaj Electricals Ltd, a part of the US$ 5.5bn Bajaj Group, shall market and distribute a wide range of water filters and gravity purification devices for home use throughout India.

The addition of HaloPure® technology will enable Bajaj's gravity water treatment products to remove 99.9% of disease-causing bacteria and viruses present in source water. This disinfection step greatly adds to the capabilities and benefits of its existing products, which primarily deal with taste and odor, creating products that deliver a high level of water purification without the need for electricity or water pressure.  The HaloPure powered products will be inexpensive, effective and highly portable – ideally suited to the Indian market.

In 2009, HaloPure® became the first new drinking water technology in more than a decade to be granted both Manufacture-For-Use and Device registrations by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA), widely recognized as having the world's most stringent performance requirements for water purification. HaloPure® is a unique contact biocide technology that is proven to attack and kill a wide range of harmful microorganisms and is approved for long-term use in a variety of markets, including the United States.

John Kaestle, Chief Executive of HaloSource, commented, "Bajaj Electricals is a major player in the Indian market and a trusted consumer brand. This partnership greatly extends the reach of HaloPure® technology and reinforces Bajaj's commitment to providing its customers with outstanding product solutions. Using HaloPure® disinfection cartridges in Bajaj's products will provide affordable, highly effective drinking water disinfection to millions of new customers in place of typical product solutions which require access to electricity. It's a great opportunity for both our companies."

Shekhar Bajaj, Chairman and Managing Director of Bajaj Electricals Ltd, stated, "We are excited that a number of our products will become HaloPure® powered, providing our customers with a simple product that delivers the highest standards of bacteria and virus removal for their drinking water. Good quality potable water is a huge challenge for Indian masses and provides a large market opportunity along with serving an important social mission."
