NewsGuard 100/100 Score

Inc. Magazine included Southern California-based People's Care in its fourth annual Inc. 5000, an exclusive ranking of the country's fastest growing private companies. The list represents a comprehensive look at an important segment of the United States' economy: independent entrepreneurs. People's Care joins other prominent brands on the list, including music website Pandora, 7-Eleven and Radio Flyer.

"The leaders of this year's Inc. 5000 have figured out how to grow their businesses during the longest recession since the Great Depression," said Inc. President Bob LaPointe. "The 2010 Inc. 5000 showcases a particularly hardy group of entrepreneurs."

People's Care, which ranked 2140, is one of California's leading providers of services for individuals with developmental disabilities, a term referring to serious conditions that appear before the age of 18. Founded in 1998 by Michael Kaiser, People's Care is dedicated to enhancing the personal choice, community involvement, dignity and respect of its clients, many of whom have severe behavioral issues coupled with physical disabilities. Its mission is to provide support and advocacy for these individuals, as well as for seniors requiring in-home assistance.

A primary goal with all of its clients is decreasing behavioral excesses, self-injury or other inappropriate behavior through customized behavioral management strategies, while reducing unnecessary reliance on medications. Also available within its network are 27 four-bed homes to help clients transition from institutions into a higher quality community environment. The comprehensive services provided by People's Care include:

  • Specialized residential care in staffed homes in the community
  • Site-based behavioral  management day programs
  • Community-based day programs
  • Community integration and training programs
  • Personal assistance services
  • Supported living services
  • Independent living skills training
  • Adaptive skills training program
  • In-home autism program
  • Behavior assessment and modification services
  • In-home senior care

"People's Care is honored to be included in Inc. Magazine's 5000 Fastest Growing Private Companies for the third consecutive year," says CEO Michael Kaiser. "It demonstrates that each year we are empowering more individuals with special needs to function to their best capability outside of institutions and in the mainstream community.

"Our experience with difficult behaviors frequently allows us to succeed where other providers fall short. Whether we are providing support to a child with autism, an adult with developmental disabilities or a senior with dementia, our professionals provide individualized programs that meet each client's needs, while giving their family greater peace of mind. And that gives the team at People's Care even more motivation to excel in our work."
