VWR International, LLC today celebrates the official grand opening of its new corporate headquarters at the Radnor Corporate Center in Radnor, PA. The new facility not only preserves jobs in the state and region, but also offers the opportunity for increased staffing as the company grows.
VWR is one of the world's leading global laboratory supply and distribution companies, with worldwide sales in excess of $3.5 billion, providing a wide range of supplies to pharmaceutical and biotech companies, as well as industrial, educational and governmental organizations around the globe.
The move to Radnor is significant, as it integrates the company's corporate workforce, approximately 446 associates and contractors – previously housed in two locations in West Chester, PA. The company expects the integration of all associates in one facility will help support its future business growth objectives – by allowing seamless interaction on cross-function projects in an energizing environment that is convenient to Philadelphia and surrounding suburbs. In choosing Radnor, VWR conducted an extensive study of potential locations, eventually signing a 12-year lease with Brandywine Realty in June of last year for approximately 150,000 square feet of space in the township.
"VWR strives to create a healthy, engaging workplace that fosters innovation, collaboration and productivity, where our talented associates can look forward to making a difference to the scientific community for years to come," said Paul Dumas, SVP, Human Resources of VWR. "Our relocation further emphasizes our strong commitment to our associates, as we maintain a best in class organization, retain talent and attract future leaders."
The architectural and interior design of the space supports a collaborative, teambuilding environment, incorporating low workstations to promote communication, collaboration and innovation. Large windows and glass details allow for substantial natural light to illuminate the space, with the outdoor landscape serving as a pleasing backdrop to the overall design. Informal gathering areas, including break rooms, coffee bars and casual seating areas, provide a space for small group meetings and other interactions.
Associates themselves collaborated on certain aspects of the decor, including designing most of the facility's artwork, which reflects the products VWR has supplied to its customers over the Company's rich, 158 year-old history. VWR also tasked its associates to name the building's conference rooms, whose titles range from scientists to products sold by VWR.
To celebrate the grand opening, VWR is hosting activities today for its associates, which include a scavenger hunt and lunch. From 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. associates' family members are invited to an open house including games, pumpkin decorating, face painting, live music and an appearance by the Philadelphia Eagles Cheerleaders.
