HHS Secretary reinforces commitment to move forward with implementation of CLASS Act

In a briefing today at the Kaiser Family Foundation on "Opportunities for Long-Term Services and Supports in the Health Reform Law," U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius reinforced the Administration's commitment to moving forward with the implementation of Community Living Assistance Services and Supports (CLASS) Act.

Advance CLASS, Inc. and its membership commend Secretary Sebelius for taking the authority given to HHS in the Affordable Care Act (ACA) to make this program a success. During her speech, the Secretary outlined key ways to ensure that the program remains fiscally solid, through spreading financial risk and keeping premiums down in the CLASS program. The Administration's goal, she stated, is to keep the program on "firm footing" for years to come.

Advance CLASS would also like to thank Kathy Greenlee for overseeing the Office of CLASS and for her continued support and dedication as both Assistant Secretary of  the Administration on Aging (AoA) and Director of the Office of CLASS.

With the Secretary's leadership in implementing this important program, Advance CLASS is confident that the CLASS Act will be able to provide greater dignity, greater hope, and greater opportunity and self-direction to seniors and people with disabilities so they can maintain a job, a home, and a family.
