HERAE, (www.herae.com), one of the nation's largest healthcare electronic payment service providers, has signed an agreement with Aetna (NYSE: AET) to offer electronic solutions that will make claim reconciliation, payments processing and deposits faster and more cost effective for doctors and hospitals that care for Aetna's members nationwide.

“We looked at the challenges with paper payment systems and have made simplifying administrative tasks a key focus of our solutions. We are excited about working with Aetna to help providers adopt electronic solutions that help them save time, money and resources.”

HERAE's DirectERA replaces every aspect of paper-based processes with an efficient and inexpensive electronic version. These solutions include Electronic Remittance Advice (ERA), an electronic document detailing claims payments, as well as Electronic Funds Transfers (EFT), which are electronic payments of funds into a providers' bank account. DirectERA is an all-payer solution that is secure, HIPAA-compliant and requires no software upgrades.

"Using health information technology helps us simplify payment and administrative tasks," says Chere Parton, head of Aetna eSolutions. "This makes it easier for the medical community to do business with us and helps us improve the cost-efficiency of health care."

Jim Ribelin, CEO at HERAE LLC, said, "We looked at the challenges with paper payment systems and have made simplifying administrative tasks a key focus of our solutions. We are excited about working with Aetna to help providers adopt electronic solutions that help them save time, money and resources."
