Overall employment in Cuba's health system dropped in 2010, report says

Overall employment in Cuba's health system fell 14 percent in 2010 to about 282,000 jobs, compared with 330,000 during the previous year, according to a report from the country's National Statistics Office, the Associated Press/Washington Post reports. "The report did not explain the drop, but said the category included employees such as pharmaceutical, X-ray and dental assistants. There were only slight changes in numbers for high-skill medical workers such as doctors, nurses and pharmacists, the report said" (6/1).
