Cooperation is key to finding global food security

"We need a global approach to achieving food security," Tom Daschle, former Senate majority leader and chair of the DuPont Advisory Committee on Agricultural Innovation and Productivity for the 21st Century, writes in a Politico opinion piece.

He notes the committee has identified three challenges to addressing the issue, including producing "more food, and more nutritious food, through better technology and better practices"; ensuring "food is accessible and affordable"; and doing these things "in environmentally, socially and economically sustainable ways." Noting the significance of the private sector, Daschle says, "Most important is focusing on how we can break down the silos that have traditionally divided stakeholders" (6/7).
