CHI-California Healthcare Institute announced today that registration is now open for CHI's 2011 Annual Meeting. CHI's Annual Meeting focuses on the relationship between biomedical innovation and public policy. This year's theme is Shifting Sands: Forces Reshaping the Biomedical Innovation Business Model.

The event, taking place on Thursday, Nov. 3, at San Francisco's Julia Morgan Ballroom, will bring together hundreds of leading executives from biotechnology, medical device and pharmaceutical companies, as well as leaders from the state's academic research community with policy makers to discuss critical issues and opportunities facing the biomedical community.

The goal of the forum is to produce a clearer understanding of the biomedical community's work and needs, and how the industry can sustain California's leadership in medical innovation.

"We hope the event can serve as a gathering for good ideas on how to best support and grow the biomedical community in California," said CHI President and CEO David L. Gollaher, Ph.D. "Through intelligent public policies and an infrastructure that encourages innovation, California has the ability to remain the leader in biomedical research, development and commercialization."

The forum is intended for top-level biomedical industry executives, leaders from California's academic research community, entrepreneurs, investors, federal and state policy makers, members of the media and key legislative staff.

The deadline to register for the event is Oct. 20.
