HealthUnity Corporation today announced general availability of version 5.5 of its award-winning Health Information Exchange (HIE) and Master Person Index (MPI) solution. This solution was successfully deployed at e-Health Network of Long Island within 90 days to support the high quality of care standards and network expansion goals of its long-standing partner. The improved software platform promotes enhanced functionality such as improved provider portal access, EHR integration, multi-facility consent management, and e-referral among various other features.
Comprised of a geographically dispersed group of hospitals in central and eastern Long Island, New York, the HIE includes various hospitals, physician practices, labs, radiology and long-term-care facilities servicing more than 1.5 million patients. HealthUnity's HIE upgrade has advanced network providers closer to meeting stage 1 requirements of meaningful use criteria, providing e-Health Network of Long Island with a superior foundation for electronic data capture and information sharing across disparate facilities and applications.
The upgrade enables new features including: HealthUnity MPI suite, Record Locator Service, CCD exchange, composite clinical summary, IHE PIX, PDQ, PIX notification & XDS.b standards, secure messaging, multi-facility consent management, e-referral, provider directory, EHR lite provider portal, and EHR adapter services. Also included are HIE clinical and operational reports exemplified by the facility-to-facility common patient overlap report.

The e-Health Network of Long Island participants include Stony Brook University Hospital, Winthrop University Hospital, Southampton Hospital, Eastern Long Island Hospital, Peconic Bay Medical Center, Gurwin Jewish Geriatric Center, San Simeon by the Sound, Long Island State Veterans Home and Nesconset Nursing Center.
