Cardinal Health launches Protexis Latex Blue surgical gloves with emollient coating

Cardinal Health today announced the launch of its new Protexis™ Latex Blue with Neu-Thera® sterile latex powder-free surgical gloves with emollient coating.

The newest addition to the Protexis™ portfolio of powder-free surgical gloves from Cardinal Health, these gloves are made from natural rubber latex and contain 50 micrograms or less of total water extractable protein per square decimeter. Their distinct blue color supports double-gloving initiatives, because the blue base layer provides contrast against a light-colored top glove, helping alert wearers to potentially dangerous breaches or perforations.

Cardinal Health now offers blue underglove solutions in both powder-free latex and synthetic polyisoprene. Clinicians can select the glove type with the barrier protection, comfort, fit and indication properties they need when double-gloving.

Protexis™ Latex Blue with Neu-Thera® surgical gloves also include the company's exclusive Neu-Thera® emollient coating which aids in damp and dry donning. The formulation of the Neu-Thera® emollient coating promotes skin moisturization and supports hand hygiene compliance.

"Cardinal Health is dedicated to providing the innovative products clinicians need for protection from perforations and sharps injuries," said Lisa Ashby, president of Category Management at Cardinal Health. "And our addition of the Protexis™ Latex Blue with Neu-Thera® surgical gloves to our new Protexis™ powder-free surgical glove portfolio marks another step toward Cardinal Health providing a robust portfolio that our customers rely upon so they can perform confidently."

The recently introduced Protexis™ brand is the new brand name of the powder-free portfolio of surgical gloves from Cardinal Health, which includes both new and existing Cardinal Health surgical gloves. The new, advanced solutions - Protexis™ Latex Hydrogel and Protexis™ Latex Blue with Neu-Thera® - join gloves transitioning from  already-existing Duraprene™, Esteem® and Protegrity® brands.

The new Protexis™ naming system is simple, straightforward and easy-to-understand. Its architecture clearly communicates the material from which the gloves are made as well as their primary features and attributes.

All Protexis™ surgical gloves are made using an exclusive hand mold with an independent thumb that allows for an anatomical fit and more natural movement in the fingers, thumb and palm. Forming a reliable barrier from fingertips to forearm, the gloves also have roll-down-resistant cuffs.
