Carine Chen-McLaughlin, coordinator of Case Management Operations at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore, has been selected as one of 50 Social Work Heroes for Justice by the University of Maryland School of Social Work.
The school's Anniversary Awards Committee chose Chen-Mclaughlin from hundreds of alumni nominations. She and the other winners will be honored at a dinner in April.
Chen-McLaughlin graduated from the University of Maryland in 1976, has been at Sinai for 17 and has been a social worker for more than 30 years. Her responsibilities include overseeing the hospital's daily operations involving case management, supervising the hospital's social workers and mentoring college students.
The criteria for the award included professionals whose "significant contribution to the greater community and whose work in policy, practice, research, and education has elevated the reputation and visibility of the School and the social work profession."
