Blog examines implementation of health insurance program in Rwanda

In Humanosphere, journalist Tom Paulson examines Rwanda's recent success in implementing a health "insurance program that has covered most of the population with an emphasis on basic, preventative care." Including comments from Peter Drobac of Partners in Health and Jeffrey Sachs of Columbia University, Paulson focuses on the role of community health workers in helping to implement the program, provide care, and educate people in rural areas. "We need a new approach and I think building a new kind of public health system based on community health workers is the way to go. ... I think that's the lesson of Rwanda," Sachs said, the blog notes (3/26).
