State Department hosts online discussions on foreign aid, HIV/AIDS

Richard Buangan, director of digital engagement at the U.S. State Department, notes in the agency's "DipNote" blog that Secretary of State John Kerry will participate in a Google+ hangout on Friday, April 19, at 1:15 pm EDT. "The live online conversation, 'The U.S. In the World: What's In It for Us?,' will be moderated by NBC News Chief Foreign Affairs Correspondent Andrea Mitchell and will give Americans from across the country the opportunity to discuss with Secretary Kerry the impact of U.S. involvement in the world, and why it's important to our national security and economic prosperity," he notes (4/18). In a separate post, "DipNote" alerts readers to an online conversation about the U.S. global AIDS response with Deborah Von Zinkernagel, principal deputy coordinator for PEPFAR; Shannon Hader, vice president and director of the Center for Health Systems and Solutions at Futures Group; and Chris Austin, president of Returned Peace Corps Volunteers of Washington, D.C. "The discussion will be moderated by Cheryl Benton, deputy assistant secretary of state for public affairs, and will be available for on demand viewing soon on YouTube and www.state.gov," the blog notes and provides instructions on how to submit questions (4/18).
