Providing revenue cycle management to 80 private medical practices throughout Indiana, CIPROMS uses Zix Email Encryption to secure protected health information (PHI) in email, meet requirements under Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and protect client relationships with covered entities that must also comply with healthcare industry privacy and data security regulations.
A Zix customer since 2010, CIPROMS originally selected ZixCorp based on its ease of use and its trusted reputation with regional hospital systems and healthcare organizations. "Our experience with a previous email encryption vendor was not positive. Its solution did not work cleanly and reinforced to us the importance of a simple solution," said Matthew Simpson, Vice President of Information Technology for CIPROMS. All CIPROMS employees use ZixGateway® to automatically scan outbound email. If PHI or other sensitive information is detected in the email, it is automatically encrypted and delivered through the most secure, convenient method available to the recipient. Recipients who also use ZixGateway exchange encrypted email with CIPROMS without any extra steps or passwords, making secure communication as easy as regular email.
Recipients who are not Zix customers can exchange encrypted email through ZixPort®, a secure Web portal that offers convenient access from desktops and mobile devices. ZixPort also allows recipients without email encryption capabilities to initiate new secure email messages to CIPROMS through its Secure Compose feature. Instead of waiting for a CIPROMS employee to begin a secure email exchange, customers and partners can easily access the Secure Compose feature through the CIPROMS Web site.
