Actuated Medical selected as finalists for Pennsylvania Bio's 2013 Patient Impact Award

Actuated Medical, Inc. and its TubeClear® system have been selected as one of three finalists for Pennsylvania Bio's 2013 Patient Impact Award. This award recognizes Life Sciences innovations in Pennsylvania that have made a significant contribution to the quality of health care or life of patients.

TubeClear is an in-patient tube clearing system for feeding and decompression tubes that is designed, developed and manufactured in Pennsylvania. Its patented technology uses a mechanical motion that allows clinicians to quickly clear clogs in tubes without the expense and risk of tube replacement. In addition to eliminating the discomfort of tube removal and replacement, this system can save a typical 500-bed hospital up to $243K a year.

Maureen L. Mulvihill, Ph.D., President of Actuated Medical, commented that, "The whole reason we started Actuated Medical was to make a difference in patient's lives. This nomination reinforces everything we strive for and we're thrilled to be nominated. I commend the other finalists who have made enormous contributions to the Life Sciences. Quite simply, improving patient outcomes is what we're all about and we thank PA Bio for recognizing our efforts."

The winner of this year's award will be announced at Pennsylvania Bio's Annual Dinner on March 12th in Philadelphia.
