Davita Kidney Care joins fight against diabetes during National Diabetes Month

DaVita Kidney Care, a division of DaVita HealthCare Partners Inc. (NYSE: DVA) and a leading provider of kidney care services, joins the fight against diabetes during National Diabetes Month this November by sharing suggestions and resources to help individuals manage the disease.

Kidney failure is a significant risk for those with diabetes, and diabetes is the leading contributor to kidney disease. One in three individuals with diabetes has kidney disease. Moreover, kidney disease is underdiagnosed among those with diabetes, as the symptoms often go unnoticed until it is too late.

"Knowing your risk is an important first step in becoming smart about kidney disease," said Dr. Stephen McMurray, vice president of clinical integrated care management services at DaVita Kidney Care. "We encourage patients to monitor their health and maintain an individually tailored diet in order to better manage both diabetes and kidney disease."
