CannTrust Inc., a privately held, wholly-owned Canadian company, has been approved by Health Canada as a Licensed Producer and distributor of medical cannabis in Canada, under the Marihuana for Medical Purposes Regulations (MMPR). Co-founded by mail order pharmacy veteran Norman Paul, CannTrust is the only pharmacist-controlled and operated licensed producer in Canada, bringing more than 40 years of pharmacy and healthcare experience to the newly commercialized medical cannabis industry.

"We are pleased to receive this approval from Health Canada – it validates the rigour we've applied to all areas of CannTrust's medical cannabis production and distribution processes," said Norman Paul, Chairman of CannTrust. "Our state-of-the-art facility incorporates the latest technology for optimal hydroponic growing, automated packaging and secure delivery of our products. We have invested in our own laboratory with advanced technology and equipment for quality testing and research. Patients can trust they are getting consistent quality and safety testing at every stage of production and distribution."

Together with Paul, the scientists, master growers, pharmacists, nurses, pharmacy technicians and quality control laboratory experts at CannTrust will apply their collective knowledge and broad disease-management expertise to produce, fulfill and deliver quality pharmaceutical-grade medical cannabis to patients who need it the most.

"We understand patients with different diseases and medical conditions are turning to medical cannabis for help and many of them have unanswered questions," adds Paul, a graduate pharmacist. "Patient education is a large part of the service that CannTrust provides and we invite patients with questions of any kind about the medical use of cannabis or the new Health Canada regulations to call us, as we are here to provide counsel and support to Canadian patients."

This philosophy forms the basis of the development of CannTrust's patient-centric approach to customer service, which includes a dedicated call centre led by a nurse and certified pharmacy technicians, who have been specially trained and certified under a unique medical education program created in conjunction with the non-profit organization, Canadian Consortium for the Investigation of Cannabinoids (CCIC).

CannTrust has specifically selected 6 premium strains that have been widely recognized for medical purposes. The company is the first Licensed Producer to import the seeds for these strains from the Netherlands. "We are pleased to be the first to introduce these highly recognized quality strains", says Norman Paul. CannTrust is offering these strains of hydroponically grown cannabis to patients who have a medical document completed by their physician.
