Duke of Rothesay, Prince Charles to officially open Golden Jubilee Innovation Centre

Today (Wednesday 24 June 2015) His Royal Highness The Prince Charles, Duke of Rothesay will officially open the Golden Jubilee Innovation Centre – a focal point for driving forward innovations for NHSScotland.

Part of the Golden Jubilee Foundation family that includes the Golden Jubilee National Hospital, the Centre is both a physical space and a source of passion and energy which will ensure that the Golden Jubilee continues to meet expectations and provide quality care for patients across Scotland.

The Golden Jubilee has a track record for getting things done. This success can be attributed to a committed and entrepreneurial staff working alongside an accessible and imaginative management team, where aspirational thinking is encouraged. This ‘can do’ attitude enables the Golden Jubilee to be a catalyst for change and innovation.

Jill Young, Chief Executive of the Golden Jubilee Foundation, commented:

Being creative thinkers, being innovative in the way we work, and implementing effective new ideas, is an integral part of building a culture of continuous improvement. Some of the most ground breaking ideas are born out of issues encountered in day-to-day work and it is essential that staff are provided with the space, technology and support to undertake exciting new projects which lead to direct improvements for patients.

Investment in innovation is essential to ensure that the needs and expectations of every patient are met, providing the highest possible standard of care to the patients of NHSScotland. Every piece of new research, every new project, or every new strategy we undertake, will make a difference to patient care.

We are delighted that His Royal Highness The Duke of Rothesay, will be taking the time to, not only open our Innovation Centre, but meet the clinical teams, patients and volunteers that demonstrate our commitment to innovation which goes hand in hand with providing safe, effective and person centred care.
