11AM-2PM – HEALTH FAIR

2PM-3PM Speeches - ACHN & ADAMS Leadership & Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe

BACKGROUND: As ACHN Chairman Dr. Yahya Alvi explained, "Local and state officials have called the ADAMS Free clinic a model for healthcare to community members who could not otherwise afford that care. We are delighted Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe will attend and speak at the Fair on Saturday, along with many other County and State Civic Leaders who will join us. This is a perfect way for our officials to tell their constituents about our Clinic services."

The Health Fair offers our Northern VA neighbors, families and friends a chance to receive basic health screenings including vision, dental and hearing, and for educational seminars. The Clinic will also offer free flu shots while supplies last.

ACHN's Nurse Practitioner Dr. Rebecca Bates explained, "This is a chance for our entire NoVA community to see the range of the free services ACHN is already providing to hundreds of qualifying community members, saving them many thousands of dollars in health services this year alone."

"The ACHN not only provides healthcare services at the Clinic itself," noted ACHN Admin Director Fakhir Ahmad, "but we have a network of Doctors and other healthcare professionals who have agreed to provide specialty care at their own offices as may be required."

"Our clinic reaffirms our goal to serve everyone from any community who needs but cannot afford health care," explained Dr. Alvi. "While most of our current volunteer healthcare providers are Muslim, we welcome ALL healthcare professionals to join ACHN in this effort to help any community members in need."

This year, the ACHN Clinic will also introduce a new program designed to provide free prosthetic devices to children and young adults who need such care. Project Managers Alexandre Marro and Varun George will demonstrate these 3-D printed hands, and develop a register of patients who can benefit from this service.
