Accumetrics' VerifyNow P2Y12 Test receives CE mark approval for prognostic use

Accumetrics, Inc., developer of the VerifyNow System, the first rapid and easy-to-use point-of-care system for measuring platelet reactivity to multiple antiplatelet agents, announced today that the VerifyNow P2Y12 Test is now CE marked for prognostic use in identifying patients with high residual platelet reactivity on antiplatelet therapy who are at greater risk for future cardiovascular events.

Lantheus Medical Imaging, Inc., a worldwide leader in diagnostic imaging, today announced data from a Phase 2 clinical trial that demonstrated Positron Emission Tomography myocardial perfusion imaging with flurpiridaz F 18 provided superior image quality, diagnostic certainty and diagnostic performance for detecting coronary artery disease (CAD) compared to single photon emission computed tomography myocardial perfusion imaging, the current standard for the non-invasive detection of CAD.

The call is being made in a paper published online in the European Heart Journal reporting on a conference held by the ESC in January 2011 looking to increase the input of medical experts in developing medical device policy.

Life expectancy blood test not popular with experts

According to scientists and medical ethicist there are hidden dangers of a new blood test for determining how fast someone is ageing. The test costs £435 test and is due to go on sale to the general public in Britain later this year, measures the length of a person's telomeres, the structures on the tips of the chromosomes which get progressively shorter with age. Short telomeres are linked with age-related diseases and premature death.
