Aradigm commences patient dosage in Phase 2 trial of novel inhaled ciprofloxacin formulation

Aradigm Corporation today announced that the first patient was dosed in a 6-month, multicenter, international Phase 2 clinical trial of a novel version of inhaled ciprofloxacin (ARD-3150) in 40 adult patients with non-cystic fibrosis bronchiectasis.

Vertex Pharmaceuticals Incorporated announced today that holders of its 4.75% Convertible Senior Subordinated Notes due 2013 have agreed to exchange approximately $109.0 million in aggregate principal amount of those notes and accrued interest for approximately 4.8 million shares of the Company’s common stock, which is approximately 140,000 shares more than the number of shares into which the notes were convertible under their original terms.

NIH awards DiscoveryBioMed grant to develop therapies for cystic fibrosis

DiscoveryBioMed, Inc. (DBM) today announced that it has been awarded a Phase 1 Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant by the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
