Tolero Pharmaceuticals and MannKind Corporation today announced a license agreement granting Tolero exclusive worldwide rights to develop and commercialize compounds from MannKind's novel BTK (Bruton's tyrosine kinase) program, which are currently being developed for the treatment of hematological malignancies and inflammatory diseases.

Study: Incidence of fetal growth restriction is lower in obese women

Obesity during pregnancy puts women at higher risk of a multitude of challenges. But, according to a new study presented earlier this month at the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine annual convention, fetal growth restriction, or the poor growth of a baby while in the mother's womb, is not one of them. In fact, study authors from the University of Rochester Medical Center found that the incidence of fetal growth restriction was lower in obese women when compared to non-obese women.

Diabetes alone may cost a sixth of total NHS budget by 2035: Report

A new report warns that diabetes will cost the NHS more than a sixth of its entire budget by 2035. The disease accounts for 10 per cent (£9.8 billion) of NHS spending, but this is projected to rise to £16.9 billion over the next 25 years, or 17 per cent of the health service's funds. There are around 3.8 million people living with diabetes in the UK and this is expected to increase to 6.25 million in just over two decades.
