Mission Health System to implement RIVA

NewsGuard 100/100 Score

Mission Health System in Asheville, North Carolina has ordered a RIVA System (Robotic Intravenous Automation) - a self-contained unit for filling IV syringes and bags - from Intelligent Hospital Systems (IH Systems). The Mission Health System, which includes the Memorial and St. Joseph's campuses, will be using the RIVA System on their off-site pharmacy for both centers.

"The implementation of the RIVA System into two additional hospitals denotes another landmark in robotic innovation for pharmacies," says Niels Erik Hansen, Chief Executive Officer of IH Systems. "We are pleased that Mission Health System, a facility that operates under a Certificate of Public Advantage issued by the State of North Carolina is taking proactive steps to enhance patient safety and reduce potential medication errors," Hansen explains.

In addition to supporting USP 797 compliance, RIVA allows the Mission Health System to compound ready-to-use sterile doses that are currently manually compounded or purchased from outside vendors. For Jane Arnot, Vice President of Customer Sales and Service for IH Systems, working with the Mission Health System staff has reinforced the important role the RIVA System plays in helping health care facilities meet their patient safety goals through a strategic investment in robotic automation. "Mission Health System has established their commitment to the delivery of advanced medical technologies, and has demonstrated their continued commitment with the adoption of the RIVA System," says Arnot.
