Carefx Corp., a leading provider of interoperable workflow solutions, has been chosen to supply clinical workflow technology to the Department of Defense's (DoD's) Military Health System (MHS).  As part of Vangent's $20 million contract with the DoD announced in December 2009, when fully deployed, Carefx's clinical workflow solution will be used by military clinicians providing patient care to MHS beneficiaries in the U.S. and around the world.

Carefx, in partnership with Vangent, a leading global provider of information management and strategic business process solutions, will deploy the DoD Enterprise Solution for single sign-on and context management to medical practitioners across the entire Military Health System.

The goal of the technology deployment is to improve care for Service members by providing clinicians with up-to-date information about the right patient at the right time -- from the battlefield, to the Theater of Operations, to military treatment facilities around the world.  The quality of patient care is expected to be enhanced and delivered in a more timely fashion.

"The capabilities provided by the Carefx workflow technology will provide military medical personnel with a streamlined, efficient and secure method of accessing and viewing patient information and clinical data," said Mac Curtis, President and CEO of Vangent.

"Carefx is honored to participate in a project that has such wide-reaching, positive implications for U.S. military personnel," said Andrew Hurd, Chairman and CEO of Carefx.  "We believe that enhancing the clinical user experience for physicians and clinicians will result in a higher quality of care for our soldiers both at home and overseas."
