The Protector Network and Capital Insurance Group (CIG) Insurance Center's Central Valley Insurance Agency together with the California Highway Patrol (CHP) and Visalia Police Department, host California's first Community Safety Saturday. This family friendly event will take place on Saturday, April 24, in the Carmel Plaza. At the event parents will be informed about the importance of the proper installation and use of child safety restraints in vehicles and have the opportunity to receive a Photo Rapid ID Card and fingerprinting kit for their child.

Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for children under 14. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has estimated that nearly three out of four parents are not aware of the proper use of child safety restraints such as booster seats. Many parents do not know that California law requires that children under 6 years old or weighing less than 60 pounds ride in an approved, properly installed child safety seat.

Community Safety Saturday, sponsored by The Protector Network — theprotectornetwork.com CIG's members-only organization offering safety and security benefits to policy clients of Capital Insurance Group (CIG) CIGinsurance.com and your community insurance agents at CIG Central Valley Insurance Agency — Centralvalleyins.com have brought together the CHP and the Visalia Police Department to help area residents keep their children safe. The CHP will be on hand to check and advise about proper installation of child safety seats and to answer questions along with offering car seat exchanges for those families that meet certain criteria. The Visalia Police Department will have Rapid ID Cards with digital photos and fingerprint kits available for children. Community Safety Saturday will also feature a live broadcast from Z104.9 FM along with kid-friendly giveaways and prizes.

Phil Oliver of Central Valley Insurance Agency states, "Our office is dedicated to community safety and security. This is the first of many community events we'll host with The Protector Network and Capital Insurance Group. The first Community Safety Saturday will focus on the safety and security of children through the proper use of child safety seats." The event will be co-sponsored by The Protector Network — theprotectornetwork.com — a first-of-its-kind safety, security and savings benefits program. All CIG clients receive a complimentary membership in The Protector Network, which provides an array of services, tools and products to help protect their home, auto or business.
